Audition Calls for Business Help, Producers, Chairs, and Actors
|
Audition Call for Running the Business The Executive would like to place an "audition call"
to local people with a business background who like to run organizations ... no theatre experience required.
There are many people in our community who would like to see live adult theatre continue, and we need to
leverage their talents.
If you would like to lend your business expertise to a great cause, please contact
president@kemptvilleplayers.ca.
Audition Call for Functional Chairs
If you have been with KPI for any length of time, you will understand that we require
people to head up certain tasks. We already have [now vacant] in charge of the Publicity
team, and [now vacant] in charge of Promotions, and Barb Stiles in charge of Wardrobe, and so
forth. Now the Executive would like to add other new functional chairs, such as a chair for
growing the membership. For example, we currently have 35 paid members, and the
Executive would like to see 200 paid members by the end of the next five years.
If you are involved with the Players, this is your chance to get more involved, without
having to sit on the Executive. More information about this initiative will be available
at the AGM.
Audition Call for Producers
If you would like to produce either a one-act play or a full length play (see details above), please contact
Monica Cleland by e-mail or phone.
Audition Call for Actors
Click for audition dates and times of our next production.
Annual Celebration Dinner
To increase awareness in the community about what the Players do, and to celebrate our
accomplishments each year, an Annual Celebration Dinner is being proposed; see details at the AGM.

Some comments from the survey:
What attracts me to this theatre troupe [KPI] year after year is
the polished quality of their shows, very rehearsed, done with apparent ease.
Do not perform only comedy, I want to see all kinds of theatre performed.
A play that is well known and well acted can never go wrong.
You could also break beyond strictly theatricals and offer workshops in closely related areas
such as public speaking and illustrate how the skills you learn in 'theatre' translate to other areas of your life.
I would hate to see the small theatre diminish itself by not thinking on a slightly larger scale.
There is a lot of talent in our community and opening up auditions to something as large scale as
Little Women or a modern day Shakespeare will bring people out of the woodwork for auditions and
to attend because people know the story and they would want to be a part of something that terrific.
No more small time farces for me - I don't want to see another Norm Foster comedy - I want something
that I can anticipate going to see because I can relate or am somewhat familiar with the storyline
We've enjoyed your productions in the past. Keep up the good work.

Proscenophobia (Stage Fright)
KPI Spring Production, April 16-25, 2009.
Many thanks to our director Sandra Tobin.
Unfortunately when our star Cathie Raina's mother passed away on the second weekend of the run, Sandra had to step on stage as her understudy -- rather ironic, when Cathie's on stage personna had a perennial understudy (who ended up dead in the second act).
Don't Dress for Dinner
KPI Fall Production Nov 20-29, 2008.
We wowed the audiences with a slick production of
this farce around lovers and mistaken identities.
Many thanks to our director Winston Kinnaird, and
all the talented people who became part of this production.
We'd like to thank Dundas Players, Greely Players, ITR, and Lennox Community Theatre
for loaning us (respectively) Bill Steele, Sophie Hall, Larisa Christensen, and John & Lisa Wilberforce.
Reduced for Quick Sale
One Act play at EODL One-Act Festival
in Merrickville, Nov 7-9, 2008.
Barb Stiles directed and produced this one-act play about finding hope in the ruins -- of marriage, or of life.
This was Sophie's "other" play this fall. Although we didn't bring home any hardware,
everyone throroughly enjoyed mounting this show.
Annual General Meeting
This important meeting for all members was held June 21. There were elections of the
new Executive, proposed changes to the way Kemptville Players Inc conducts itself, and
announcements of new initiatives.
Hey Day made hay!
The 48th annual Hey Day was a resounding success!
Congratulations to all involved Players!
The event raised over $31,000;
and our area, the Children's Corner, beat it's own record with revenues over $1000.
Many thanks to all our hard-working volunteers!
Let's Murder Marsha
KPI Spring Production, Apr 8-12, 2008
Our latest full-length play was well-received. We
experimented with a fund-raiser night on Wednesday's performance,
with all ticket sales supporting the Youth Missions at the
Christian Reformed Church in Kemptville. We hope that, based
on such an enjoyable experience that night, to see many of the
audience come to see more of our shows.
Our thanks to the cast directed by George Anderson,
and also to the crew and publicity teams.

Nurse Jane Goes to Hawaii
KPI Fall Production, Nov 28-30, Dec 1, 2007
The play was a big success, although the
wild winter weather did reduce the number of patrons,
particularly on Friday night and Saturday afternoon. The Saturday
evening performance was very well attended, with nearly 110 dinner theatre
patrons who enjoyed both the buffet dinner catered by Dial-A-Chef and the show.
Our thanks to the cast directed by Suzanne Irving and stage managed by Sandra Tobin,
and also to the crew and publicity teams.

40th Re-Union
St. James Players - Kemptville Players (1967-2007)
Kemptville Players held their 40th Anniversary Celebration at Lesley Hall on Oct 27.
Over 100 present and former members of the Players gathered to reminisce the good old days,
past productions and the lasting friendships that were forged all in the name of Community Theatre.
Entertainment was provided by the Players in the form of a skit and a good old sing along.
Everyone appreciated the opportunity to reconnect and build new bridges to the future.
Thanks and kudos to Paul Rochon and his team for planning and holding this successful event.
